How to Play blackjack : Rules

Game Objective:
The object of Blackjack is to accumulate cards with point totals as close to 21 without going over 21. Face cards (Jacks, Queens and Kings) are worth 10 points. Aces are worth 1 or 11. Other cards are represented by their number. If Player and the House tie, it is a push and no one wins. Ace and 10 (Blackjack) on the first two cards dealt is an automatic Player wins at 1.5 to 1, unless the house ties.
How to Play:
  • Your chips are stacked in denominations of $1, $5, $25, $100 and $500 at the rim of the table.
  • Select the amount you want to wager on a given hand by clicking on the chip of that denomination. Likewise you can decrease the amount wagered by clicking on the Bet stack.
  • Once the wager is placed, the player presses the 'Deal' button. The dealer deals the player two cards face up and himself two cards; the first one being face up and the other face down.
  • Depending your (player's) two cards strength choose your options 'Hit', 'Stand', 'Surrender', 'Double Down', 'split', OR 'Insurance'.
  • After the player has built his hand to its best advantage, the cards are dealt.
  • After the Dealers/Players cards are held at the highest level or bust, results are displayed.
Stand : A player may stand at any time. If the player is satisfied with his hand as-is he may stand. Click 'Stand', and when the dealer completes his or her hand, the hands will be compared.

Hit : If the player wishes to take another card he may continue to do so until he either stands or busts.

Double Down : If the player feels he needs one and only one more card then he may double his bet and be dealt one more card, good or bad. This option is only offered on the first two cards, and sometimes on the first two cards after splitting.(Doubling options in Las Vegas variant and Atlantic City variant are different; refer to the below given table for details).

Split : If the player's first two cards are of equal point value he may split them into two hands. In this event each card is the first card of a new hand. The player must also make another wager of equal value to the first for the second hand. The player may usually re-split up to 2 or 3 times if another splitting opportunity arises. Doubling after splitting is usually but not always allowed. Split aces are allowed to draw only one additional card. (Refer to the difference of split case in Las Vegas variant and Atlantic City variant in the below given table)

Surrender : Surrender is allowed with half of bet forfeited after the Dealer checks for a natural (a two-card count of 21) -- in which case the bet is forfeited. Player has the option to surrender on the first two cards. This option is generally only offered after the dealer checks for blackjack, known as "late surrender". There is no surrender option in Las Vegas Strip Blackjack Tables.

Insurance : If the Dealer's first card (open card) is an "Ace" card, the player can choose to insure his hands against the Dealer's Blackjack. Insurance costs 50% the bet amount. This is in addition to the initial bet placed by the player. If the dealer has a Blackjack, the insurance bet pays 2:1 and the player will lose the initial bet. Incase of the Dealer not having the Blackjack, the player loses his insured bet and the game continues for the initial bet amount.
